Hello everyone! We are working on a short film and looking to cast a few characters. This is a low-budget, unpaid indie project with filming taking place on September 26th and 27th in Monument, CO and on October 3rd and 4th in Wheat Ridge, CO.
Working Title: A TALE BEFORE IT WAS WRITTEN
THE STORY
On a rainy afternoon, Jane sits down to work on her new novel, but the story refuses to come together. Then a strange occurrence draws her into the woods, where she discovers secrets and mysteries that blur the line between fiction and reality. What begins as a potential idea for her next great novel may end up costing her far more than a story.
JANE — (20s/30s) Our lead character with some dialogue along with some voice-over narration. She is working on her new novel and during this, is lured out into the woods by a strange occurrence. This role will be involving in filming on each of the shoot days listed.
COLE — (30s/40s) A father looking for his daughter. Minor role with dialogue. Will be involved in at least 2 of the shoot days.
DAUGHTER — (10-12 or someone who can portray that age) She discovers a hidden mystery in the woods. Minor role with a little dialogue. Will be involved in at least 2 of the shoot days.
HUSBAND — One half of a couple looking to buy a new home. This is a small scene at the end with dialogue.
WIFE — The other half of the couple. This is a small scene at the end with dialogue.
THE WAYFARER — (6’0″+) Looking for someone to portray this tall, slim figure with an average/slender build. The Wayfarer is a mysterious, death-like figure who lurks in the shadows, ready to collect his next soul. He moves between worlds and serves as a ferryman of sorts between life and death.
An outfit will be provided for this character, along with some light makeup designed to give the hands and face a frail, withered appearance.
FILMING:
We will be filming on the weekends of September 26th and 27th during the day and on October 3rd and 4th, which will mostly be evenings and a morning. Food, snacks, and beverages will be provided during filming.
This is an unpaid indie project being made by a small group of filmmakers who are passionate about creating something atmospheric and cinematic. I’m hoping to meet other like-minded actors and filmmakers who are interested in collaborating and helping us bring this story to life.
